News of the Ricoh Caplio R40 digital camera has finally reached the U.S. The 6 megapixel R40 is an upgrade to the R4. The new model has a 5.7x optical wide zoom that retracts into a camera body only 26 mm deep. Up to 12 pictures can be displayed simultaneously on the 2.5 inch LCD screen on the back of the camera. Ricoh also points out this camera has a "top-of-its-class macro mode." The camera can take up to 350 pictures on a single charge.
