Ricoh has announced a new water, shock, and dust resistant digital camera with a wide angle 3x zoom lens (28 - 55mm) and upgraded flash. The 8.13 megapixel Ricoh 500G Wide is the successor to the 400G Wide, which was announced in January 2004. The new camera is upgraded in nearly every way, and adds an antiblur function and extended flash range. It has a 2.5-inch LCD on the back, and has a CALS mode for electronic construction data. Also, it's PictBridge compliant. This rugged camera seems to be aimed at people who work in harsh environments; people like construction workers, insurance adjusters, and other outdoor situations.
