Apple has announced that Aperture version 1.1 will be available by the end of March, and will be available as a Universal Binary version to run on Intel-based Macs. The new version will include many improvements suggested by user feedback, as well as an Auto Noise Compression algorithm that varies the amount of noise reduction according to the length of exposure and ISO setting. The new version will also be able to work with layerer Photoshop PSD files and export them with the original layers still intact. Apple also says Aperture 1.1 will be 2-3x faster than previous versions on PowerPC-based machines and 2x as fast on Intel-based models.
