Olympus, the 4th largest camera maker in the world, has reported record profits in the 3rd quarter of their fiscal year on the strength of cost-cutting and reduced spending on marketing and advertising.
The numbers: Olympus' operating profit of 21 billion yen (around $177 million) for the three months ending December 31, 2005, was almost triple over the results from the same period of time the previous year.
