Nikon says its quarterly profit for October - December 2005 more than tripled, due in part to strong digital camera sales. The company is raising its full-year forecast by 18%. Nikon reported great success with their digital SLR cameras, which are typically a little pricier than their competition and give larger profit margins. Nikon also reported improvement in its compact digital camera sales. The company did lower sales forecasts for digital SLR's, though, from 1.6 million to 1.4 million in this quarter.
