Hewlett-Packard has unveiled the HP Deskjet 6980 and HP Deskjet 6940 Color Inkjet Printers today. The printers can be wired into an Ethernet network and shared among up to 5 computers, and they also have built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b. Both printers use HP Vivera inks for documents and photos. They can print up to 36 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 27 ppm in color. Photos are printed at 4800 dots per inch (dip). The printers are PictBridge-compatible for printing directly from a digital camera, and both printers can print up to 610mm borderless panorama shots.

HP today unveiled the HP Deskjet 6980 and HP Deskjet 6940 Colour Inkjet Printers, two performance printers that offer exceptional speed and professional-quality colour prints at an affordable price.
With wired Ethernet for sharing with up to five computers, these versatile printers allow users to work more productively at home or in the office. In addition to wired networking, the HP Deskjet 6980 Printer also offers wireless printing and built-in Wi-Fi 802.11g/b, for fast and easy networking. It also includes SecureEasySetup which allows users to connect easily with a wireless network in less than ten minutes.
These new high performance Deskjets are designed for high-volume printing consumers who need speed, professional quality documents and photos that resist fading for generations1 when using HP Vivera Inks. The HP Deskjet 6980 and HP Deskjet 6940 Printers offer greater productivity with speeds of up to 36 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 27 ppm in colour. High-volume HP 339 Black and HP 344 Tri-Colour Inkjet Print Cartridges, an optional 250-sheet paper tray and an automatic two-sided printing accessory2 are also available for those needing even greater efficiency.
These printers offer professional-quality photos with up to 4800-optimised dots per inch (dpi) 3 and optional six-ink colour4. With a PictBridge-enabled camera, users can connect to the front USB port and print photos directly without the need for a computer. Both printers print standard and custom size photos up to 215 x 610 mm panorama prints, with or without borders5, and include the HP Photosmart Premier software that allows users to organise, edit and enhance digital photos.
The HP Deskjet 6980 and 6940 Printers support Windows, 98 SE, Me, 2000 Professional, XP and Macintosh Mac OS X v10.2, 10.3 and later. The recommended street price including VAT of the HP Deskjet 6980 is £129 and the HP Deskjet 6940 is 99. Both printers will be available for purchase in March 2006.
