Mail-in rebates are going the way of the dinosaur at Best Buy. Starting at the beginning of this year, customers now receive instant savings on notebooks, with other products to follow. Also, Best Buy has created an online submission and tracking system to allow customers to get their rebates faster. Most rebate checks will be mailed within 7 days of submission.
These recent actions are part of a plan announced in April 2005 to eliminate mail-in rebates from the Best Buy portfolio in order to improve the customer experience.
