Fotolia Emerges as the Alternative Stock Image Provider for the Design Community

Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.co.uk), the first global online social marketplace for stock digital images has moved one step further in its goal of democratizing low cost and royalty free images and is becoming the ideal tool for the design and image buying community.

In addition to allowing designers to compete on a level playing field by providing exclusive professional quality images from all over the world for as low as GBP1, Fotolia adds a free images section where designers can benefit by getting something for nothing in a legal environment, and where photographers can participate in a unique and exclusive ad revenue sharing model. Photographers profit from the additional stream of revenue created by the Ad-thumbs that appear on the page, while graphic designers receive fully licensed images for free. Thousands of high quality free stock images are already available online, and growing by hundreds a day.

"We have an impressive community where professionals and hobbyists can submit their work and purchase original creative content from around the world or get it for free if sponsored by advertising revenue. What's more, all parties have the opportunity to profit monetarily, even for creative content distributed for free and benefit from a community that works together to improve their craft," commented Oleg Tscheltzoff, Co-Founder and President of Fotolia.

In a sense of helping to build the community and expand the marketplace Fotolia also launches the 1+1 Affiliate Program, whereby all members will receive GBP 1 for referring a new member to the site as well as 5 years of rewards based on the new users' activity. The newly referred members will also received 1 premium image to jumpstart their Fotolia experience. Fotolia is the platform that empowers the design community, rewards the relationship between designers and photographers and is positioning itself as a real alternative to classical stock photography agencies.

Fotolia is also introducing powerful and user friendly tools in order to facilitate more efficient searches:

- Top 150 Tags - highest searched words from both photographers and
designers
- Refined Keyword Search - Search by Color, Price, Popularity,
Photo/Illustrations, Size
- Fotolia's Most - Most Searched Photographers, Most Downloaded
Photos, and Commented Photos
- The Last 300 - most recently approved images
- Image Request - designers post image requests and are emailed
when they become available
- Map Country Searches - search for images by country origin
through a Map
Launched in early November 2005, Fotolia's digital image marketplace already has acquired over 165,000 images in its database and more than 16,000 international members.
