"Today" show tech editor Paul Hochman has recommended a few "great gadgets for the folks on your gift list." The "ultimate" DSLR camera he recommends is the Olympus E-Vol 500. He asserts the camera produces images "that are totally indistinguishable from film" because "it has the only high-end lens system in the world designed specifically for digital cameras."
The ultimate pocket-sized digital camera, according to Hochman, is the Canon PowerShot SD450. He said it was so easy to figure out, he didn't need a manual.
Hochman also recommends the Canon iP90 wireless color printer "to print out a card version of the photo."
