Research firm IDC has reported that Kodak has retained its lead the the US market for digital cameras. In the 3 months ending in September 2005, digital camera shipments to retailers rose 13% to .6 million a year. Kodak shipped 1.25 million of those cameras, which is 21% more than the same quarter last year. The company's market share is at 21.3%. Canon and Sony tied for second place, with 17.7% each in the market. Fuji, Nikon, and Olympus round out the top contenders.
Worldwide, Kodak is in third place.
