ConsumerAffaris.com has an update on Canon's CCD and "e18 error" issues. Although Canon has posted a CCD service advisory on its Asian site, the company hasn't warned consumers in the United States. Although the company asserts that CCD problems have been "rare," the company will repair affected cameras free of charge. Users are advised to contact Canon Customer Support.
The "e18 error" occurs when the lens sticks and will not move. Canon has been targetted in a class action suit over the problem.
