Sony has announced the Cyber-shot M2, an ergonomically-designed 5.1 effective megapixel digital camera that can also record high-quality MPEG-4 movies. The M2 can record up to 50 minutes of footage on a Memory Stick PRO Duo. The camera has a swivelling 2.5 inch hybrid LCD screen and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar folded-path 3x Optical Zoom lens. The screen can be used to present photo slide shows or review movies taken with the camera. A separate, internal memory is dedicated to holding pictures in VGA size. The camera also has a Hybrid REC mode that records five seconds before the still picture and three seconds after the still picture. The Cyber-shot M2 is PictBridge compatible.
The Sony Cyber-shot M2 will be available in November 2005.
