Sigma has announced a new large aperture standard zoom lens that covers wide-angle to telephoto for full-frame digital SLR cameras. The lens allows a setting of F2.8 at the 28mm focal length. The multi-layer lens coating is designed to minimize flare and ghosting, and the use of aspherical lens reduces various aberrations throughout the entire zoom range and improves optical performance. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 50cm throughout the entire zoom range and has a maximum magnification of 1:5.5. Because the front of the lens does not rotate, it is compatible with circular polarizing filters and a petal-type hood.
