Nikon said today that it is likely to make a larger first-half operating profit than it earlier estimated due to strong digital camera sales. Although Nikon hasn't revealed exact figures yet, some sources estimate the profit to be in the neighborhood of 22 billion yen, up from the latest estimate of 19 billion yen. The company is the fifth largest digital camera maker, and the second largest digital SLR camera manufacturer.
