In contrast to a few struggling digital camera manufacturers (we're looking at you, Olympus), Nikon seems to have the Midas Touch in 2005. Nikon shares climbed to a five-month high yesterday after the company raised its full-year profit goal based on surging digital SLR camera sales. The company has also cut costs in its chipmaking equipment business.
Nikon raised its full-year income forecast to 13 billion yet, or about $116 million, which is up 18% from its May estimage. As the demand cools for compact cameras, the company is releasing new and more expensive digital SLR cameras.
