PC Magazine recently reviewed the Olympus Camedia C-5500 Sport Zoom, awarding the 5.1 megapixel digital camera a 3 out of 5 rating. The reviewer liked the long (7.9 to 39.5 mm) zoom and the clean images it produced, but noted a bit of shutter lag and a slow recycle time. For a compact camera, the reviewer thought it was a little large and advised those looking for a "real compact" to check out the smaller and faster Fujifilm FinePix E550.
The reviewer compared the camera to another at the same price point - the Nikon Coolpix 4800 - and found the Nikon to be the better product. The colors were brighter, and the Coolpix 4800 had the longer optical zoom.
