Olympus is reporting a full-year net loss of 11.9 billion yen (about $112 million) compared with a profit of 33.6 billion yen a year earlier. This was despite the company's sales rising 28%. This loss was much wider than Olympus' preliminary reports to the Tokyo Stock Exchange had indicated. Olympus is one of the five biggest digital camera manufacturers in Japan, where domestic shipments by all local manufacturers had dropped 15% in March.
