Ricoh has announced the Caplio GX8 digital SLR , an 8.24 MP digital camera with a 28mm wide angle 3x zoom lens. The new camera is meant to be a successor to Ricoh's GX. The GX8 has an aluminum die-cast body with a rubber handgrip and a 1.8 inch LCD screen on the back. The camera also boasts of a 1.3 second startup time and a focus time of .10 seconds. The GX8 can shoot 16 consecutive images in about 2 seconds with one press of the shutter. The camera can macro down to 1 centimeter.
The camera can fit a wide range of Ricoh-branded and non-Ricoh branded accessories and instruments. The camera has no built-in flash, but does include a dedicated hot shoe. The GX8 is PictBridge compatible.
