Sony UK has announced several new digital cameras in Europe: The new Cyber-Shot W7, the Cyber-Shot H1 (above), and the Cyber-Shot S-Series (S40, S80, and S90).
The Cyber-Shot W7 is a 7.2 MP camera with a 2.5-inch LCD and a Car Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens. The camera uses the new Super HAD CCD. There is 32 MB on-board story for when your Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro runs short or is missing. Sony states the camera can take up to 380 shots with the supplied rechargable batteries, or up to 430 shots with the optional NiMH batteries. This camera should ship at the end of March.
The Cyber-Shot H1 features a 12x optical zoom lens and comes with an image stabilization feature. The 5.1 MP digital camera comes with a 2.5-inch LCD screen. The camera allows full manual control and auto settings. The unit can also take VGA video at up to 30 fps. This camera should ship at the end of June.
The 4.1 MP S-Series cameras all offer 3x optical zoom and are designed for beginners. These cameras also feature the Sony STAMINA power management system, allowing the S90 to take up to 420 shots with the supplied rechargable batteries. The S40 can take up to 550 shots using optional batteries. Of course, all the cameras use Sony's Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO and back it up with 32 MB on-board storage. These cameras should ship at the end of April.
