With 3.8 million digital cameras sold during the holidays, SanDisk figures there are a lot of people learning about the care and use of flash memory cards. The company has released a series of tips for getting the most out of your digital storage devices. These include:

Determine your camera's card format and upgrade to higher capacity cards.
Use a card reader instead of hooking your camera directly to the computer.
Always purchase your cards from authorized dealers, and don't let pricing be the sole factor in your decision.
For faster camera performance, buy cards with faster write speeds, such as the SanDisk Ultra.
Taking pictures with a low battery or prematurely ejecting your cards can harm them.
