nikon_pictureproject_plugins.jpgNikon has announced new plug-ins for the PictureProject software, the program bundled with every Nikon digital camera.

PictureProject Remote Control allows users to operate the CoolPix 8400 or 8800 remotely from a computer. This feature was previously available only on Nikon's SLR's. This plug-in can enable users to change camera settings and shooting functions remotely by computer, including AF Mode, Flash Mode, image size and quality, as well as control over zoom operation and shutter release. The software is also equipped with real-time preview monitoring. Images taken can be saved directly to the computer's hard drive.

The nik Color Efex Pro 2.0 Express Edition is a set of fifteen plug-in filters for PictureProject and Nikon Capture 4. Users can apply multiple filters, remove filters, and reapply filters before saving the image. The filters include: Brilliance / Warmth, Burnt Sienna, Contrast Only, Graduated Blue, Graduated Orange, Graduated Olive, Midnight Blue, Monday Morning Violet, Old Photo: Black and White, Old Photo: Color, Photo Styler: Cool Ice, Remove Color Cast, Sunshine, Skylight Filter, Solarization: Color.

Finally, the PictureProject DVD Show plug-in allows users to automate the process of editing movie clips and still images for slide show creation. Users can also add special effects or music and save the completed presentations to DVD or Video CD. The software even automatically recognizes human figures in the pictures or movie clips to distinguish relevant contents to create a new sequence of images in a selected style. Transition of images is also automatically timed to synchronize with the rhythm of the selected music track.
