Nikon has released two compact digital cameras targeted at travellers and others who desire a compact, sophisticated camera: The 5.1 MP Coolpix 5900 and the 7.1 MP Coolpix 7900. Both feature a two inch LCD on the back, Nikon's D-Lighting feature, and the new "Face-priority AF," which automatically seeks out human faces in the frame and adjusts the AF accordingly. The Coolpix 7900 should be capable of taking approximately 220 shots with a single fully charged proprietary battery, while the Coolpix 5900 is able to take about 270. Both cameras are PictBridge-compatible. The 5900 should be available next month at $349.95, while the 7900 will be $449.95 in April.
