Three companies have announced their cooperation to produce the Picture Archiving and Sharing Standard has resulted in the PASS Specification 1.0. Their goal is to ensure compatibility of digital photos and motion images on CDs, DVDs or other media with a broad range of consumer products. The specification includes four parts to describe different parts of the mechanics and data structures of they PASS discs, recorders, and players. The three companies will begin implementing the system on their existing photo CD products later this year.
