Cannon has announced the new 5 MP PowerShot SD400 (IXUS 50 in Europe). This is their smallest 5 MP camera yet, and features the same DIGIC II processor as in Canon's digital SLR's. The 2-inch display on the back of the camera features a QuickBright funcion that takes temporarily takes the display to maximum brightness for viewing photographs outdoors or in other bright conditions. The camera also features a "Hold" function, allowing users to freeze the just-captured image on the display to allow others to see it without switching to replay mode. The camera also has a total of 10 shooting modes and can take 30 fps movies at 640 x 480. The camera will be available for about $520.
