The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reports that Sony and Canon, the two largest Japanese digital camera manufacturers, plan to increase worldwide shipments by 20 to 30 percent this year to bring their combined share to a little over half the market. Meanwhile, shipments to Japan may actually decline this year, where more than half the households already own a digital camera. The highest-growth areas seem to be in Europe and the U.S.
