Seagate announces new 5 GB hard drive for digital cameras

Seagate will be providing a 5 gigabyte CF harddrive that is specifically intended for use in digital cameras. Providing an alternative for Compact Flash cards, the new drives will be available in capacities of 2.5 and five gigabytes.

Seagate didn't release pricing info, but, based on statements the company made last summer, we expect the device will come in under $150. 2004 that the device will be available for "less than $150". Hitachi's 2.2 GByte MicroDrive currently sells for around $170.
