HP has filed a patent for a device that can remotely blur the face of someone who doesn't want their picture taken by a digital camera. Any images taken in the vicinity of the device would be automatically modified based on a command sent by the unit.
The main appeal of the concept is to find the balance between the proliferation of digital cameras in today's society and increasing privacy concerns; especially those centered around camera phones. The protocol would obviously have to be adopted by all camera makers in order to be effective. HP says they have no current plans to actually use the technology.
