Windup Labs announced their launch of the "Hey Pix!" photo-sharing service today, merging the best features of desktop photo management and online photo album viewing. Using a proprietary Accelerated Sync Technology, users can manage photos offline and synchronize their online albums later. Also, users can create their own templates and themes, or use a provided set. The service uses open standards and API's, allowing developers to complement the core system with their own applications and services.

The service is now available, and provides 50 MB storage and 200 MB of transfer at no charge. For paying customers, the numbers are upgraded up to as high as 3 GB storage and 5 GB transfer for the "Pro" plan, at $7.95 a month.
