A Forbes report released today states that Pentax will start manufacturing "core digital camera components" next month through a Chinese joint venture with BASO Precision Optics Ltd of Taiwan. The purpose is to increase profits through lowering procurement costs of components. Some of the parts produced will also be sold to third parties.
